Adaptację zakończy zabójca Bennett, który postanawia wypełnić swoje ostatnie zadanie. Ale jak zwykle ostatnia misja nigdy nie idzie zgodnie z planem, a Bennett wkrótce zostaje uwikłany w ciąg nadprzyrodzonych zdarzeń.
BOOKS OF BLOOD były pierwotnie zaplanowane jako serialowa antologia, ale ostatecznie Hulu zdecydował się na uproszczenie tego do filmu fabularnego. Scenariusz napisał Adam Simon (The Hounting in Connecticut, Salem) i Brannon Braga (Star Trek, 24, Salem), którzy również zajęli się reżyserią filmu.
